►About Kid Kenobi
Despite countless accolades, awards, records, and firsts have been the hallmark of Kid Kenobi’s illustrious 20-year long DJing career (including being named Australia’s favourite DJ for a record number 3 years from 2003 – 2005, receiving an award for his first remix ever [of Green Velvet’s “La La Land’], an ARIA nomination for ‘The Bump’ with Hook N Sling, knocking up over 80 remixes for some of the world’s biggest names in dance, pop and rock, being the first DJ ever to have a CD series named after him by Ministry of Sound, to having an itinerary that reads like a Lonely Planet guidebook to the best nightclubs around the world), Kid Kenobi shows no sign of slowing down! Far from it! And with breakbeat making a resurgence both in the US and the UK, it seems he couldn’t rest on his laurels even if he wanted to!
2016 began in fine form with the Kid producing the soundtrack for the Cancer Council’s ‘Pretty Shady’ campaign. It also saw the launch of his brand new 90’s inspired breakbeat side project ‘Original Rude Boy’ (whose debut EP is locked for July 2016).
2016 also sees the Kid celebrating his 20th year behind the decks with a national tour and mixtape series dedicated to his history. More news soon!
Outside of his own productions Kid Kenobi has also been hard at work with his own label Klub Kids which has been busy pioneering the sounds of bass, electro house, deep house, and trap (plus any genre of ‘forward thinking party music’ in between). The label has given rise to the likes of Spenda C, Paces, Phetsta, J-Trick, Conway (Motez & Rubberteeth), and more!
Despite his talent as a DJ perhaps the Kids greatest triumph is his ability to keep on evolving and growing as an artist. Music trends come and go, clubbers retire, scenes change, and awards gather dust but Kid Kenobi, it seems, is here to stay.
►About A-Tonez
If you’ve ever broken the seal in a badly lit highway bathroom, inhaled a dirty kebab at a late night eatery or thrown up at a skate park, you’ve probably seen an A-Tonez sticker. You’ve probably wondered who the hell A-Tonez is, and why his face is following you all over Australia and even to that naughty weekend that you spent in New Zealand.
Legend says that his hat and glasses are actually part of a sophisticated biological support system, similar to the one worn by a guy named Darth Vader. The difference is, A-Tonez’s armour is tuned for club combat – with a little bit of intergalactic domination thrown in for good measure.
The A-Tonez legend begins in Sydney, where he became well renowned for his party rocking style and versatility, spinning anything from Hip Hop to Banging Electro and Trap & DnB styles. His energetic style has him playing the main room of most major venues in Australia on a regular basis.
The reason A-Tonez stands out from the bunch is because of his superior showmanship. In a world of button pushers, he is a respected turntablist; scratching & sampling like a madman throughout every set.
Production skills are also strong with this one. In 2012, he was asked to mix the Bass Xplosion compilation for OneLove Australia, which included an official A-Tonez remix and his first original production Bass Drop ft Laura Noir
People that have seen his energy on stage compare it to things like a homeless man who has just won the lottery or a Mexican jumping bean being electrocuted with 50,000 volts. You could say he doesn’t stay in the same place much.
Promoters also love his style. He has been booked to play at almost every major music festival that has found its way to our shores. A-Tonez knows how to deliver on the big stage.
Coming up on 13 years in the business, there are a lot of achievements and accolades lying in his wake and with a signing to Soapbox Agency and a Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide compilation mix on its way, 2018 is already neck deep in A-Tonez stickers.
