As one of the biggest names in the world, SKREAM’s contribution to the entirety of the dance music spectrum over the last decade has been unparalleled.
He became a household name thanks to the likes of his anthemic remix of La Roux’s ‘In For The Kill’ as well as holding down a spot as one third of the chart conquering triumvirate Magnetic Man, alongside his childhood partners in crime Artwork and Benga, it is his often overshadowed early years that really exhibit the producers truly incredible credentials. Since witnessing dubplates of his earliest productions being played by the now legendary Hatcha at the tender age of 14, Skream has played an absolutely essential role in the emergence of the dark Garage influenced 2-step that would later become known as Dubstep.
Although it was in 2012, after providing the foundations for the genre from its very infancy, that Skream embarked on the next stage of his rapidly evolving career. Leaving the Dubstep tag and the subsequent commercial grief that grew to overshadow it behind, Skream began focusing his attentions to Disco. With A Defected compilation w/ Pete Tong already under his belt and the friday night slot on Radio 1 with Benga going as strong as ever, this change in sound has hardly put Skream out of his stride and is still prolific as ever.
This year sees a typical Skream set all that and more, with the possibility of hearing whatever genre the producers most eclectic of tastes sees fit, it would be surely wise to expect to hear the unexpected. Skream is without doubt at one of the most exciting stages of his whole career and could not be witnessed DJing at more thrilling point in time!
